Primary School

Building upon its successful accreditation allowing it to offer International Baccalaureate Diploma courses, Open Gate school now enters an exciting new phase of development. From September 2011 the school will open its doors to children of Primary school age (six year olds in Year One through to nine/ten years old in Year Four). In itself this is a positive step forward but Open Gate prides itself on the unique "Primary Years Programme" it will be offering these youngsters.
Utilising the most progressive and internationally-shared practices, methods and approaches in all areas of the educational process our students will be encouraged to actively explore their future through enquiry, communication, reflection and critical thinking. The result is a young person with the qualities of tolerance, balance, confidence and self-esteem so necessary as preparation in order to be able to fulfill the demands of IB courses further down the line of their academic career at Open Gate. The small number of children in classes (maximum 18) in combination with a friendly, caring, family atmosphere throughout the school will ensure that pupils reach their personal maximum.
The OPEN GATE school curriculum, "The Primary Years Programme“, respects the personality of students and their individual needs. It is designed in accordance with the Framework Educational Programme of the Ministry of Education and the internationally recognized IB Diploma Programme. Open Gate has been inspired by the experience of other international education systems. Open Gate makes no excuse for claiming that its aim is no less than the journey to the hearts and souls of our children, focusing on the development of their social, physical, emotional and cultural needs. In the process the pupils will learn to use the latest IT equipment and devices. In addition a comprehensive range of activities within and outside the school is prepared for them. They themselves will be led to seek answers to important questions of the world by conscious exploring. The teacher is the guide who accompanies them on this trip. As tor the evaluation and feed-back process our teachers use positive written assessment criteraia in order that pupils never experience the humbling effects of failure, but rather are motivated to their further self-improvement. We also offer recreational sports which help them keep fit, relaxing activities developing their creativity, inculcate positive attitudes to art and nature, and experience practical activities.
Our School Education Programme OPEN GATE is characterized by "the key competencies to knowledge" dynamics.
