Graduates by year

In 2009 the first graduates left Open Gate. They were accepted to universities in the Czech Republic and the world. Each year, about a half of the students choose to study abroad. The countries of interest are Great Britain, the United States, Switzerland or Spain. Most students choose from a number of universities to which they have been accepted.

  • Born in Prague.
  • Before she came to OG in 2005, she attended the Jan Ámos
  • Komensky Primary School in Nové Strašecí.
  • She studies English and French.
  • She attended several painting and drawing courses, she also focuses on animation.
  • She likes sociology and philosophy.
  • Her favourite sports include volleyball and skiing, she likes board games.
  • She is studying Marketing Communication at the College of Finance and Administration.
  • In the future she would like to combine her existing subject with the study of animation.

David Výboch

  • Born in Nymburk.
  • He transferred to Open Gate in 2005 from the Jana Amos Komenský Grammar School in v Novém Strašecí.
  • He obtained the TIE and IELTS certificates in English. He also learns French.
  • He was a member of the Student Board.
  • His hobbies include film shooting, production and criticism. He likes to play football and is interested the connections between psychology and sports.
  • He won the Allons en France competition in 2009, where he presented his own rap song (he composed the music, wrote his own French lyrics and recorded a clip).
  • Now he is studying Sport and Psychology at University of Abertay Dundee. His studies are partly supported by The Kellner Family Foundation.

Dessislava Tatcheva

  • Born in Sofia, Bulgaria.
  • She transferred to Open Gate in 2006 from the eight-year Buďánka Grammar School in Prague.
  • She obtained the TIE and CAE certificates in English and she also actively learns French, Spanish and Russian. Every year she also takes exams in Bulgarian, her native tongue.
  • She took part in the organisation of many school activities and international meetings.
  • She is interested in rhetoric, economy and the globalisation issues. She plays volleyball, tennis, squash and badminton.
  • She regularly published her text in the School Journal.
  • She was accepted to all the universities of her choice. She is studying Business and Management at the University of Exeter with the generous support of The Educa Foundation (The Kellner Family Foundation).
  • Her future plan is to continue to study in Great Britain.

Jakub Plesník

  • Born in Aš.
  • He came to Open Gate in 2005 from the Aš College and Grammar School.
  • He chose to study English and Spanish.
  • He organised summer camps and also worked there as an assistant.
  • His hobbies include computer work, sports (floorball in particular), biology and work with animals.
  • He is studying Drug Synthesis at the Faculty of Chemical Technology.
  • In the future he would like to use the biology and chemistry education in his further career.

Jaroslav Čech

  • Born in Kolín.
  • Prior to coming to OG in 2005 he attended the Nový Knín Primary School.
  • His English is excellent as it is proved by the PET
  • and IELTS certificates he obtained.
  • He achieved a professional level in magic tricks. He successfully performs at the Prague
  • Magic Circle.
  • At the moment he is studying history. This subject is his great hobby since he believes that we can see its reminders all around us.
  • He dedicates his free time to floorball, football and basketball; he sings in a choir and plays with a band.
  • Currently he is studying History at Bath Spa University in Great Britain with the financial support of Educa Foundation (the present The Kellner Family Foundation).
  • In the future he would like to pursue the career of a historian and have time for his hobbies.

Jiří Bobek

  • Born in Ústí nad Labem.
  • Before coming to Open Gate in 2005 he attend the Libouchec Primary School.
  • He competed in many floorball tournaments. Later on he became the coach of the Open Gate team and represented the school with success.
  • Basketball and football also rank among his hobbies.
  • He passed the school leaving exam and now he studies languages and prepares for the Medical Faculty entrance exam.
  • In the future he would like to work as a doctor.

Jolana Venenyová

  • Born in Karviná.
  • She transferred to Open Gate in 2005 from the Karviná Grammar School.
  • She got the TIE, PET a FCE certificates in English. She also learns German and Spanish. She experienced a year-long student exchange stay in Great Britain..
  • She is interested in volunteering, floorball (she represented Open Gate with the school team) and most of all in the international politics.
  • She is studying Relations and Politics at the University of Dundee with the financial support of the Educa and later on The Kellner Family Foundation.
  • In the future she would like to pursue an international politics career.

Kateřina Hejtmánková

  • Born in Prague.
  • Before she came to OG in 2005 she attended Chaplinovo náměstí Primary School in Prague.
  • She obtained the TIE certificate in English, attended several English courses abroad and she also actively learns Spanish.
  • Her hobbies include graphics, drawing and the puppet theatre. She helped to create the scenery for school plays and painted pictures for the school charity auctions.
  • She regularly attends painting courses and lectures on the history of art.
  • Now she is studying the Scenic and Media Studies at Jan Ámos Komensky University.
  • Her future career should ideally be connected with art.

Klára Tučková

  • Born in Prague.
  • Before she came to Open Gate in 2005 she studied at the Nad Alejí Grammar School in Prague.
  • She got the TIE, PET, FCE a IELTS certificates in English, she also studied French.
  • She visited many art exhibitions and lectures on art and architecture.
  • She has been a scout instructor for a number of years. Architecture is her greatest hobby.
  • She was accepted on condition to several universities abroad; however, she decided to remain in the Czech Republic and to study Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture, ČVUT.
  • She would like to become a successful architect in the future.

Lukáš Růžička

  • Born in Hořovice.
  • Before coming to Open Gate in 2005 he attended the Broumy Primary School.
  • He spent the school year of 2008/2009 studying at Jourdanton High School in the USA, where he obtained the American College Diploma and the "Best Student" prize.
  • He got the TIE and IELTS certificates in English; he actively studied not only French but also Spanish.
  • He received the Director's Award for his beneficial community work at Open Gate.
  • He attended the University Scholastic League, where he defended the second position in Maths.
  • His hobbies include economy and management, French and sports.
  • He was accepted to all the universities of his choice. Currently he is studying Europen Management and French at the University of Lancaster with the financial support of Educa Foundation (The Kellner Family Foundation).
  • In the future he wishes to succeed in management. Also, the idea of a year of studies in France seems very appealing to him.

Marcel Neuberger

  • Born in Slaný.
  • Before he came to Open Gate in 2005 he attended the 7. Kladno Primary School.
  • He obtained the TIE certificate in English.
  • His hobbies include computer graphics, web design and sports,
  • particularly body-building and swimming.
  • He likes to read classical literature and memoirs.
  • Currently he is studying a subject entitled Judicial Officer at the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University.
  • In the future he would like to pursue his chosen career and practice his hobbies.

Marek Svoboda

  • Born in Hodonín.
  • He transferred to Open Gate in 2005 from the Lesní Čtvrť Grammar School in Zlín.
  • He obtained the TIE, FCE a TOEFL certificates in English.
  • In 2009 he spent several weeks at „Columbia University Summer Camp" and obtained a certificate that contributed to the admission to the Columbia University.
  • He obtained excellent SAT results.
  • He was a long-time member of the Student Board.
  • He was successful at the Olympics in Mathematics. One of his greatest achievements is the winning of Senior Maths Challenge silver and gold medal.
  • His hobbies include debating competitions during which he represented Open Gate with excellent results, biology, psychology, and he plays the drums.
  • Currently he is studying the General Studies at the prestigious, Ivy League Columbia University. In the future he would like to specialise in psychiatry.
  • His studies are financially supported by the Educa Foundation (later on The Kellner Family Foundation). He receives the highest possible level of the grant.
  • In the future he would like to become a psychiatrist with psychology accreditation.

Markéta Tučková

  • Born in Prague.
  • Before she came to Open Gate in 2005 she studied at the Nad Alejí Grammar School in Prague.
  • She obtained the CAE in English. She also actively learned German.
  • Repeatedly she took part in the Olympics in the Czech Language, where she successfully passed the regional round and could proceed to the national one.
  • Her hobbies include journalism, the bohemian studies and the media.
  • She is also interested in the sociological studies.
  • She is a long-time scout instructor.
  • Now she is studying two different subjects- Philology-Bohemian Studies and Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
  • Her future plan is to complete her studies.

Michael Moravec

  • Born in Pardubice.
  • Before he came to Open Gate in2005 he attend the Chvaletice Primary School.
  • He obtained the TIE certificate in English.
  • He attended the UK Senior Mathematical Challenge and won a silver certificate in 2009. He is the holder of The Duke of Edinburgh Award bronze medal.
  • He managed to reach the second place in an international Geography Competition.
  • Apart from computers and their programming, he also likes chess and physics.
  • At present he is studying Information Technologies at the Unicorn College in Prague.
  • In the future he would like to have a successful career in the IT sphere.

  • Before coming to Open Gate in 2005 she attended the Nad Přehradou Primary School in Prague.
  • She spent the school year of 2008/2009 participating in a student exchange stay at La Serna High School in Canada.

  • She is interested in English, biology and medicine.
  • Now she is studying Biochemistry and Biotechnologies at the Faculty of Food and Biochemical Technology, The University of Chemical Technology.

  • Born in Šumperk.
  • He came to Open Gate in 2005 from the private Jaroslav Seifert Grammar School in Prague.
  • He got the IELTS certificate in English; he also learned German.
  • He participated in many school activities such as the floorball tournaments, school Cafe work; he organised the table tennis club. He also played the guitar and the piano. He acted at the theatre.
  • His hobbies not only include various sports such as running, tennis, football, but also economy.
  • He is very good at organising various festivals and competitions, which was evident during his Open Gate studies.
  • He was accepted to all the universities of his choice. Currently he is studying Management with Leadership at the University of Exeter. He is one of the many students significantly supported by the Educa Foundation, (which later merged with The Kellner Family Foundation.)
  • In the future he would like to participate in the educational programmes for young people.

  • Before she came to Open Gate in 2005 she was a pupil of the Liběšice Primary School.
  • At Open Gate, she studied English and German, she also learned Russian in her free time.
  • She took a language course in London.
  • She likes charity work. As a volunteer she regularly helps at the Social Care Institution.
  • She is interested in biology and medicine.
  • At present she is studying Public Administrations at the University of Finance and Administration.

  • She has a talent for sports and she is interested in drawing and painting.
  • She dedicates her free time to the study of international relations, sociology and gender studies.
  • Currently she is studying Sociology and Spanish at the University of Chester in Great Britain with the financial support of Educa Foundation (the predecessor of The Kellner Family Foundation).
  • In the future she would like to be able to use her language skills and simultaneously work in the field of sociology.

  • She transferred to Open Gate in 2005 from the Špitálská Primary School in Prague.
  • At Open Gate she studied English and French and she simultaneously strived to improve in Slovakian, her second mother tongue.
  • She attended the theatre, ceramics and art club.
  • Her hobbies include psychology, economy, history, reading and sports.
  • She likes to visit concerts and theatre performances.
  • After she had passed the School Leaving Examination she decided to spend a year working in a family firm in Canada before she continues with her studies.

  • She transferred to Open Gate in 2005 from the Novoborská Primary School in Prague.
  • She gained the FCE certificate in English and the DELE certificate in Spanish.
  • She was a member of the Student Board and co-organised the Blue Van Festival.
  • She regularly vied in the School Swimming Competition.
  • Among her hobbies there are swimming, gymnastics and athletics. She dances, plays the guitar and attends the theater club.
  • She is studying Economics and Finance at the University of Brighton, her studies are partly financially supported by The Kellner Family Foundation.

Viktor Brejcha

  • Born in Prague
  • Before he came to Open Gate in 2005 he attended the Gutova Primary School in Prague.
  • He obtained the Duke of Edinburgh Award bronze medal.
  • He used every opportunity to provide technical support for the Open Gate activities.
  • Among his numerous hobbies ranks the piano which he plays on a regular basis.
  • Floorball is his favourite sport; he was a coach assistant in the Open Gate team.
  • One of his biggest successes is the victory in an international art competition and the displaying of his work in the Tate Modern Gallery in London that followed. Another great success is the cooperation with the architect Jan Malec.
  • Currently he is studying Architecture an Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture, ČVUT.
  • In the future he would like to study shipbuilding and design.

  • Born in Písek.
  • Before he came to Open Gate in 2005 , he studied at the Milevsko Grammar School.
  • During his studies he obtained the FCE a IELTS certificates in English.
  • He was successful in the debating competitions and even qualified for the national team.
  • He was an active member of the Student Board.
  • His hobbies include not only floorball and football but also kick-box. In his spare time he pursues economy and management.
  • He received acceptance on condition to all the British universities of his choice, presently he is studying Management at the University of St. Andrews with the kind support of The Kellner Family Foundation.
  • In the future he would like to work in the Public Relations.

Werner Bernatík

  • Born in Třinec.
  • Before coming to Open Gate in 2009 he studied at the Český Těšín Grammar School.
  • He took part in the technical support of the school activities.
  • His hobbies include swimming in which he gained several awards on the international level. Currently he also plays the drums.
  • Computer programming is his greatest passion.
  • He received acceptance on condition to all the British universities of his choice; however' he finally opted for the study of Applied Informatics at the University of Economics in Prague.
  • In the future he would like to develop new computer programs.

Zuzana Matiášová

  • Born in Prague.
  • She transferred to Open Gate in 2005 from the Českolipská Grammar School in Prague.
  • She obtained the PET, FCE a CAE certificates in English.
  • She attended mathematical competition and that with success; she, for instance, repeatedly got the bronze medal in the UK Senior Mathematical Challenge.
  • Neither did she miss the opportunity to take part in the Olympics in the Czech Language, where she reached the first position in the district round and the fifth position in the national round.
  • She is interested in the Bohemian studies and mathematics. She also excels at foreign languages, particularly in English and French.
  • She likes dancing, singing, music and sports.
  • She is studying Mathematics and Informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University.
  • In the future she would also like to study the Bohemian Studies at the Faculty of Arts.
