Graduates by year

In 2009 the first graduates left Open Gate. They were accepted to universities in the Czech Republic and the world. Each year, about a half of the students choose to study abroad. The countries of interest are Great Britain, the United States, Switzerland or Spain. Most students choose from a number of universities to which they have been accepted.

Anežka Svobodová

Anežka Svobodová
  • Born in Pelhřimov.
  • Before coming to Open Gate in 2005 she studied at grammar school in Litoměřice.
  • She obtained several certificates in English and passed the DELF exams in French. She also learns Spanish.
  • She obtained The Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the Director's Award for community service and yet another award for her extraordinary academic results.
  • She was vice-chairman of the Student Council and helped to organise numerous school activities.
  • She worked for non-profit organisations, particularly for Forum 2000, where she helped to organise conferences and the Non-Profit Organisations Fare.
  • She represented Open Gate in academic debating, together with her team she succeeded in the Czech and English Leagues Finale. She participated in the organisation of the Junior Debating Club.
  • In her free time she likes to read and paint, she likes bicycle rides and walking her dog.
  • She concluded Open Gate with exceptional IB results and with the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • She is studying Economics and Politics with International Study at the University of Exeter.
  • She obtained The Kellner Family Foundation grant.

Anna Mikolášková
  • Born in Vrchlabí.
  • She came to Open Gate in 2005 from the Jilemnice Grammar School.
  • She obtained the TIE certificate in English.
  • She attended debating tournaments and represented Open Gate in the finale of the Debating League twice. She actively taught minority groups how to debate.
  • She is the holder of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze, silver and gold medal.
  • She has been teaching English for several years and she engages in charity work.
  • She likes swimming, bicycle rides and reading.
  • She ended Open Gate with the IB certificates in English, German and Biology and with the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • Now she is studying at the 3. Medical Faculty, Charles University.
  • In the future she would like to work for the MSF organisation and to participate in the cancer research.

Eva Musilová
  • Born in Jihlava.
  • She came to Open Gate in 2010 from the Havlíčkův Brod Grammar School.
  • She was the Student Council member.
  • She took part in the Children for Children Charity event and played the violin at charity concerts.
  • Her hobbies include the violin, reading and sports. She is interested in the natural sciences, especially in biology, physics and chemistry. She is the holder of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze medal.
  • She concluded her studies at Open Gate with the IB and the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • She is studying General Medicine at the 3. Medical Faculty, Charles University. She obtained The Kellner Family Foundation grant.

František Berger
  • Born in Olomouc.
  • Before he came to Open Gate in 2005, he attended Jungmannova Primary School in Litovel.
  • He obtained the Director's Award in 2009/2010 for an exceptionally beneficial dormitory behaviour; he got the same award in 2008/2009 for extraordinary study effort.
  • He attended recitation competitions, represented Open Gate at football tournaments, contributed to the school web and to Zámeček, a children homes' journal.
  • Among his hobbies are football, writing articles and listening to rock music.
  • He ended the studies at Open Gate by passing the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • He attends Jan Amos Komenský University in Prague and specialises in Social and Media Communication. He obtained The Kellner Family Foundation grant.
  • In the future he would like to become a journalist.

Hana Hurychová
  • Born in Prague.
  • She came to Open Gate in 2005 from the Vodičkova Primary School in Prague.
  • She won a second place at the National Literary Award For Young Writers, 2010.
  • She won The Duke of Edinburgh's Award gold medal.
  • her hobbies include the guitar, archery and she likes to read sci-fi literature.
  • Horse-riding is her favourite sport; she has been doing it since she was four years old.
  • She ended the Open Gate Studies with the IB and the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • She is studying Zoology at the University of Aberdeen. She obtained The Kellner Family Foundation grant.
  • In the future she would like to work in the zoological or musical branch.

Jan Chalupný

Jan Chalupný
  • Born in Prague.
  • He came to Open Gate in 2005; previously he attended the Archbishop Grammar School in Prague.
  • He won The Duke of Edinburgh's Award silver medal, he obtained the DELE certificate in Spanish and Senior Maths Challenge silver certificates.
  • He obtained the Director's Award for an exceptional contribution to the Open Gate community. He led one of the sections in the Student Council.
  • He took part in the debating competitions in which he qualified to the national team.
  • Among his hobbies there are economics, canoeing, dragon boats, body-building and football.
  • Victory in the Dragon Boats Championship in Kiev in 2011 has been his greatest success.
  • He completed the studies at Open Gate with excellent grades in the IB exam and with the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • He was accepted on condition to all the British universities of his choice, he opted for Economics and Politics Studies. (WHERE?)

Jan Fleischmann
  • Born in Prague.
  • He came to Open Gate in2005 from the Ema Destinnová Primary School in Prague.
  • He obtained the TIE certificate in English.
  • He was aember of the Student Council.
  • He successfully represented Open Gate during sporting competitions; he achieved the greatest success in tennis and athletics.
  • Among his hobbies there are tennis, tennis coaching and floorball, he plays the guitar and the flute.
  • He ended the Open Gate Studies with the IB and the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • He is studying Road and Urban Vehicular Traffic at the Faculty of Engineering, Czech University of Life Science. He plans to specialise during his master studies and focus on Technology and Environmental Engineering.

Kamila Petrů
  • Born in Domažlice.
  • She came to Open Gate in 2005 from the Masaryk Primary School in Kdyně.
  • She obtained the TIE certificate in English and The Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze and silver medals.
  • She worked at the Student Café.
  • Among her hobbies there are art, horse riding and yoga, she visits art galleries, concerts and festivals. She attended art courses in the Czech Republic and abroad.
  • She concluded Open Gate studies with the IB certificate in English and with the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • She is studying at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University.

Martin Jaroš

Martin Jaroš
  • Born in Prague
  • He came to Open Gate in 2005 from the 14. Primary School in Kladno.
  • He was successful in the Olympics in Mathematics; one of his greatest achievements is the winning of one silver and one golden certificate in Senior Maths Challenge.
  • For several years he kept winning in the Olympics of Logic.
  • At Open Gate he organised a Maths Club for the younger students.
  • He likes debating and sports such as running, tennis, volleyball, basketball or golf.
  • He ended the Open Gate Studies with the IB and the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • He is studying Business and Finance at the European University in Barcelona.

Martin Kábrt

Martin Kábrt
  • Born in Sokolov.
  • He came to Open Gate in 2007 from the Free School of Cheb.
  • In 2011 he obtained scholarship and took part in a three-week holiday programme organised by the Center for Talented Youth in Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University, focused on Civic Leadership.
  • He had excellent results in SAT and in the national comparative exams.
  • he attended tens of maths competitions and achieved excellent positions in the Mathematical Kangaroo, Olympics in Mathematics, Náboj and Internet Olympics in Mathematics. He won one silver and two gold Senior Maths Challenge certificates.
  • Among his hobbies there are communication and rhetoric (he reached excellent positions in the national rounds of Prezentiáda 2010 and in the Olympics in the Czech Language). He is interested in politics, world events and sports such as athletics and floorball.
  • He completed the studies at Open Gate with excellent grades in the IB exam and with the Czech School Leaving Examination.
  • He is studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of York. He obtained The Kellner Family Foundation grant.
  • In the future he would like to work in the sphere of national or international politics, in the public sector of national economy or in an international non-profit organisation.

Michal Kalina
  • Born in Ústí nad Labem.
  • Before Open Gate Open he attended the Libouchenec Primary School and then The Dr. Václav Šmejkal Grammar School in Ústí nad Labem.
  • In 2008 he came second in the regional round of FyzIQ, a competition in physics.
  • He was a Student Council member and he run the School Student Café for two years.
  • He worked on volunteer projects in the Czech Republic, for example, he helped to reconstruct sheltered workshops in Vlčkovice.
  • He represented Open Gate in swimming and that with great success.
  • He completed the studies at Open Gate with the IB certificates in Economic and English and with the Czech Leaving Exam.
  • He is studying at 2. Medical Faculty, Charles University in Prague.

Ondřej Malinský

Ondřej Malinský
  • Born in Vrané nad Vltavou.
  • He came to Open Gate in 2005 from the Vrané nad Vltavou Primary School.
  • He was a member of the Student Council. He helped to organise a number of school activities and worked at the Student Café. He participated in the social service and taught English in Oliva Children's Sanatorium in Říčany and regularly worked as an assistant at a children's camp.
  • He plays the guitar and the drums; he likes computers and cycling.
  • He concluded the Open Gate studies with the IB certificates in English, Physics, Biology and Maths and with the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • He is studying Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering ČVUT and simultaneously also at the Faculty of Nuclear Science and Physical Engineering, ČVUT in Prague.

Ondřej Mareček
  • Born in Hradec Králové.
  • He came to Open Gate in 2008 from the Bohuslav Balbín Bishop Grammar School in Hradec Králové.
  • In 2011 he participated in Vernon L. Smith High School Workshop at Chapman University, California.
  • He repeatedly received the Director's Award for his academic results.
  • He had excellent results in SAT and the SCIO comparative tests.
  • He was successful in the Olympics of Mathematics. One of his greatest achievements was to gain the bronze, silver and gold Senior Maths Challenge certificates.
  • He was a member of the Student Council. He organised the Beginners Basketball Club and a Maths Club.
  • Among his hobbies there are sports, especially basketball and long distance runs (he represented Open Gate with excellent results) and cartography (he won the regional round of the Eurorebus competition several times).
  • He finished his Open Gate Studies with the IB and the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • He is studying Economic Theory at the Institute of Economic Studies, Charles University.
  • In the future he would like to focus on financial economy and work as an economist for a multinational company.

  • He came to Open Gate in 2008 from the Letohradská Primary School in Prague.
  • He participated in the Student Council management.
  • Outside school he kept helping the world Rotary organisation and also the Nadace Naše dítě, Život 90 and SANANIM organisations.
  • He is the author of Fight Your Fate Project- per aspera ad astra, whose aim is to help people around us.
  • His hobby is to keep looking for the positive even in the seemingly negative and to learn new things.
  • He ended Open Gate with the IB certificate in English and with the Czech School Laving Exam.
  • He is studying at Lynn University in the USA.
  • In the future he would like to focus on psychology.

  • Before she came to Open Gate in 2005 she studied at a language school in Prague.

  • She represented the school during an international athletics competition in Germany.
  • Among her hobbies are dancing, reading and collective sports. She devotes her free time to ballroom dancing and music. She also likes to organise various competitions and actions.
  • She ended her studies at Open Gate with an IB certificate in English, Economics, Spanish and with the Czech School Leaving Exam certificate.
  • She was accepted to all the universities of her choice. She decided for the Unicorn College in Prague, Economics and Management specialisation. She obtained The Kellner Family Foundation grant.

  • Born in Chomutov.
  • She came to Open Gate in 2010 previously she attended the Chomutov Grammar School.
  • She spent the year of 2009 studying abroad - during the spring and summer trimesters she attended Stover School in Devon, Great Britain, the autumn trimester then at Colon Sprachenschule in Hamburg, Germany.
  • She obtained the GCSE (English as a Secondary Language), BEC, FCE, CAE, CPE certificates in English and the Goethe-Zertifikat B2 a Goethe-Zertifikat C1 certificates in German.
  • She received the Director's Award for her community work.
  • She is the holder of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze medal.
  • In her free time she likes to go skiing, she plays tennis, travels, reads and pursues art.
  • She concluded the Open Gate studies with the IB and the Czech School Leaving exam.
  • Currently she is studying Law at Universität Zürich.
  • Later on she would like to focus on international business law where she could use English and German. She plans to master two more foreign languages, namely French and Russian.

  • She obtained DELF B1 certificate in French.
  • She is the holder of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award bronze, silver and gold medal.
  • When studying at Open Gate she took part in many volunteer activities (for instance, she taught French and English in Oliva Children's Sanatorium in Říčany).
  • She is interested in theatre, medieval cloths and music, the natural world, hiking, the piano, reading, art and many other things. She attended a Reiki seminar.
  • She completed Open Gate with the IB certificate in English and with the Czech School Leaving Exam.
  • She is studying at the Faculty of Humanities, Charles University.
  • In the future she would like to work in the criminologist sphere and play amateur theatre.
