Graduates by year

In 2009 the first graduates left Open Gate. They were accepted to universities in the Czech Republic and the world. Each year, about a half of the students choose to study abroad. The countries of interest are Great Britain, the United States, Switzerland or Spain. Most students choose from a number of universities to which they have been accepted.

Alinuur Hassan
  • Alinuur was born in Merca, Somalia.
  • Before studying at Open Gate in 2012, Alinuur studied at Příbram Grammar School.
  • He took part in The Science Symposium, where he won twice and came third in the English Olympiad.
  • His hobbies are films, books and adventure. He spends his free time playing or watching football.
  • He finished his studies at Open Gate with the IB Diploma.
  • He currently studies General Medicine at the Second Faculty of Medicine at Charles University thanks to the kind contribution of the Kellner Family Foundation.
  • He would like to work as a doctor in the future.

Andrea Mikulandová
  • She was born in Prague.
  • Before joining Open Gate in 2012, she attended Bournemouth Collegiate School in UK, where she successfully passed the GCSE exams.
  • She was awarded Silver Certificate in Senior Mathematical Challenge and Silver Certificate of The Duke of Edinburgh´s Award.
  • She participated in debating competitions and Olympiads in Mathematics and Czech language.
  • She helped in the school library and the Open Gate Elementary School Nursery. She took part in Open Gate Summer Camp.
  • Among her interests she counts yoga, playing the piano, reading, theatre and classical music. She likes to spend her free time with her family, bake or walk in the nature.
  • She completed her study at Open Gate with excellent results not only in the Czech Maturita exam but also at the IB level.
  • She studies Joint Degree of Mathematics and Philosophy within Natural Sciences at Durham University in UK.
  • In the future, she would like to focus on an academic career.

Eva Eöllősová
  • Eva was born in Klatovy.
  • Before studying at Open Gate in 2010, Eva studied at Jaroslav Vrchlický Grammar School in Klatovy.
  • She was awarded the Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificates in The Duke of Edinburgh´s Award.
  • She actively participated in numerous sports competitions, mainly in skiing and dragon boat races.
  • Her greatest success was winning the women´s category of the Fourth Annual Ski and Snowboard Racing Slalom Championship of Prague International and Partner Schools.
  • She was a member of the Student Council.
  • Her hobbies are sport, mainly tennis and skiing.
  • She finished her studies at Open Gate with both the IB Diploma and the Czech State Maturita.
  • She currently studies Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture of ČVUT in Prague.

Eva Vaňková
  • Eva was born in Hradec Králové.
  • She studied at the Gymnázium and SOŠ Jilemnice before coming to Open Gate.A
  • She was the member of the school cafeteria team.
  • Her hobbies are the northern mythology and the jewel-making.
  • Eva finished her studies at Open Gate with IB certificates in English and History and the Czech Maturita.
  • She is currently studying at the SOŠ Podkovářská in Prague in the field of Goldsmith and Jeweler.
  • In the future, she would like to open her own goldsmith’s shop.

Ivana Blašková
  • She was born in Nové Zámky in Slovakia.
  • Before Open Gate, Ivana studied at Štúrovo Grammar School.
  • She studied art at ZUŠ, attended a long term seminar of on “The History of Art and Architecture” and participated actively in the Živé město Kokpit Café exhibition project.
  • She was awarded the National Literary Award for Young Writers.
  • V rámci práce pro komunitu vyučovala angličtinu v ZŠ Mirošovice.
  • She taught English at Mirošovice Primary School as part of her Community Service.
  • She was a member of The Duke of Edinburgh´s Award Alumni Club.
  • Her hobbies are horse riding, literature, photography, mythology and legends.
  • Ivana finished her studies at Open Gate with both the IB diploma and the Czech State Maturita.
  • She currently studies Art History and Film at the University of Kent in Great Britain.

Ján Michalčák

Ján Michalčák
  • Ján was born on 5 February 1994 in Cheb.
  • Before joining Open Gate in 2007, he attended Gymnázium and Obchodní akademie in Stříbro.
  • On several occasions, he was awarded Headmaster’s Award for Excellence in Academic Performance and Headmaster’s Award for Outstanding Assistance in Community Service.
  • He completed German Language Course at the Goethe Institute in Prague with distinction.
  • He was nominated for a study stay at the American Civic Leadership Institute, which is a part of the prestigious Center for Talented Youth.
  • He regularly attended national, as well as international, debate competitions where he was awarded the Best Speaker Award on a number of occasions; he was a member of the Czech National Debating Team.
  • He took part in the Prague Student Summit on several occasions; there he was awarded The Best Novice Award and his delegation was awarded The Best Delegation Award for their year group.
  • He took part in Olympiad Competitions in Czech language and Mathematics competitions such as Pythagoriáda and Matematický klokan.
  • He was a member of the Student Council, the Board of Editors of the trilingual school magazine OG Notes and he contributed to the English school magazine OG Chronicle.
  • Among his interests he counts reading, travelling and having a good cup of coffee with his friends and family members. In his free time he frequents the gym, observes current home and international political affairs and is a passive sportsman.
  • He completed his study at Open Gate with excellent results not only in the Czech Maturita exam but also at the IB level.
  • He studies Politics and East European Studies at the University College London in the UK with the kind support of the The Kellner Family Foundation and Zdeňek Bakala Foundation.
  • In the future, he would like to continue his studies in German language and focus on business.

Jiří Jízdný
  • Jiří was born in Brno.
  • Before OG he studied at gymnasium Slovanské náměstí in 2012 in Brno. In the second semester he studied at Admiral Farragut Academy of Florida.
  • He obtained the IELTS certificate.
  • At OG he attended various sport competitions, especially floorball tournaments and swimming races.
  • His main hobbies are floorball, car racing, and fitness.
  • He finished OG with IB and the Czech State Maturita.
  • Now he is studying International hospitality management at Ecole hoteliére de Lausanne in Switzerland.
  • In the future he would like to establish his own company.

Lucie Krumpholcová

Lucie Krumpholcová
  • Lucie was born in Prague.
  • Before she came to OG in 2006, she studied at ZŠ Ing. M. Plesingera – Božinova in Neratovice.
  • She received the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Certificates of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
  • She was a member of the bilingual school magazine OG Notes.
  • She often took part in all types of sport competitions and organized races where she received a lot of awards.
  • One of her best sport performances was the first place in the Neratovice Major’s Cup in 2012 for running and fifth place in the Championship of Czech Republic for the most agile high school youth.
  • She finished OG with IB certificates in English, French, and Biology, as well as successfully passing the Czech State Maturita.
  • In her free time she does sports, especially swimming and running.
  • She studies chemistry and materials in forensic analysis at College of Chemical Technology at ČVUT in Prague.

Lukáš Chalupa
  • Lukas was born in Sokolov.
  • Before studying at Open Gate, Lukáš studied at Cheb Grammar School.
  • He obtained Silver Certificates in the Mathematical Challenge and Senior Mathematical Challenge. He also participated in numerous mathematical competitions.
  • He is a holder of the Bronze Certificate of The Duke of Edinburgh Award.
  • His hobbies are floorball, table tennis, football, chess and mathematics.

  • He studies Information Technology at the Faculty of Information Technology ČVUT in Prague thanks to the kind contribution of the Kellner Family Foundation.

Martin Svoboda

Martin Svoboda
  • Martin was born in Karlovy Vary.
  • Before joining Open Gate in 2006, he attended Lingua Universal, private nursery and elementary school.
  • He was awarded Bronze and Silver Certificate in Senior Mathematical Challenge and Bronze, Silver and Gold Certificate of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
  • He recurrently took part in high school debating events as a referee. Throughout his debating career he attended dozens of such events.
  • He devotes his free time to computer programming, self-learning in the field of Information Technology and he is keen reader of Sci-Fi, fantasy and other literature. On average, he listens to about 82 pieces of music a day, most of all, the Indie-Rock genre.
  • He completed his studies at Open Gate with IB Diplomas in English and Spanish and the Czech Maturita.
  • He studies Information Technology at Faculty of Information Technology at ČVUT in Prague.
  • In the future, he would like to work as a computer programmer.

Michal Vinárek
  • Michal was born in Písek.
  • Before coming to Open Gate, he studied at the Primary School of J.K. Tyl in Písek.
  • He achieved the Bronze Certificate of the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge and the Silver Certificate of the Senior Mathematical Challenge twice in a row.
  • Michal also participated in other competitions: FyzIQ, Matematický klokan - the mathematical competition, the debating league and Model UN.
  • He edited the school trilingual periodical OG Notes.
  • His hobbies include playing piano, singing, programming, technics and computers in general.
  • He finished his studies at Open Gate with excellent results both in the International Baccalaureate and in the Czech Maturita.
  • He is currently studying at the University of Glasgow in the field of Computing Science/Business & Management thanks to the generous support of The Kellner Family Foundation.

Paulina Turcan
  • Paulina was born in Kišiněv, Moldavia.
  • Before coming to Open Gate in 2012, she studied at Dimitrie Cantemir lyceum in Kišiněv.
  • She also studied art at the Art School Sciusev, and languages (mainly English) at the International Language Training Centre in Kišiněv.
  • She earned the Silver Certificate in the Senior Mathematical Challenge twice in a row.
  • She participated in numerous competitions and Olympiads in mathematics, physics, art, English, Rumanian and Russian. Her biggest achievement was the third place in the national round of the competition in Russian literature.
  • Her hobbies include art, mythology and fashion. In her spare time, she enjoys mainly art and sport.
  • Paulina concluded her studies at Open Gate with the excellent results in the International Baccalaureate.
  • She studies at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom in the field of Art History.

Pham Tuan Anh

Pham Tuan Anh
  • Pham was born in Cheb.
  • Before joining Open Gate in 2010, he attended Gymnáziu Christiana Dopplera in Prague.
  • He had a prominent part in the Open Gate Debating Club. On several occasions, he represented the Czech Republic in international debating events.
  • He eagerly participated in number of voluntary services. During his studies, he led a floorball club for students of the Open Gate Elementary School.
  • During his studies he became a member of a non-profit organisation Help, So We Can Help.
  • Among his interests he counts different types of sport activities, most of all floorball and football, getting to know different cultures, reading and travelling by tram and metro in Prague at night.
  • He completed his studies at Open Gate with excellent results not only in the Czech Maturita exam but also at the IB level.
  • He studies Management (Innovation, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship) at University of Manchester in UK.
  • In the future he would like to work in hotel management industry.

Tomáš Titěra
  • Tomáš was born in Prague.
  • Before he came to Open Gate in 2006, he attended primary School with extended language teaching in Prague 2, Kladská 1.
  • He received the academic scholarship at Open Gate twice. He won the Headmaster’s Award for excellent academic results several times and also the Headmaster’s Award for an extraordinary help in the community service.
  • Tomáš participated in the Olympics in Czech and he advanced to the regional round several times.
  • He was a member and chairman of the Student Council. He devoted himself to organizing events for the school community and he was in charge of the students’ cafeteria.
  • He was one of the main organizers of the campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize for Sir Nicholas Winton.
  • His hobbies include playing the guitar, reading and watching movies.
  • He finished his studies at Open Gate with excellent results in the International Baccalaureate and the Czech Maturita.
  • He is currently studying at Erasmus Universiteir Rotterdam in the Netherlands, the field of International Bachelor Communication and Media, with the kind support of The Kellner Family Foundation.

Viktorie Licková
  • She was born in Havlíčkův Brod.
  • Before she came to Open Gate in 2006, she had attended a primary school in Nové Dvory.

  • Her hobbies are pets, drawing, singing or playing piano. She also loves to watch movies, especially anime.
