    December 21, 2017 - The Dresden Christmas markets are a well-known and popular fair which is annually visited by thousands of people. Hence we, the German students accompanied by Mrs. Barnes and Mr.Udatný, started out on an excursion to Dresden on Wednesday, December 14.

    December 8, 2017 - ​On the 30th of November 2017, 15 sexta students and their English teacher, Mrs. Pospíšil, took a field trip to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Prague.The excursion included a brief history of the radio, a tour and an interview with some of the journalists working there.

  • Step Back to the History of Jews

    March 14, 2017 - ​Students of Kvarta A and B, together with Ms. Drábková, Mrs. Macura and Mr. Witt, had a great chance to open the door to the Jewish culture. On Thursday 2nd of March they were taken to Prague to visit part of Prague where Jews used to live during the Second World War. With the help of a guide students travelled through the history of Jews in the Czech Republic from 9th century up to present.

    November 21, 2016 - From the courageous students of Sekunda to the experienced students of Oktava, we headed to the open day at the Institute of Experimental Medicine AS CR. Many thanks to Mr. Červený and his ice breaker which informed us about nuclear magnetic resonance.

    November 7, 2016 - On Friday, October 7, a French visit from Brittany was welcomed at Open Gate. Five students - Nolwenn, Emma, Englantine, Camille and Malo, who were all impatient to join Sexta in their daily routine at Open Gate, finally arrived in the evening.

    October 20, 2016 - A TEDx event is an independently organized gathering full of friendly conversations and TED-like speeches. Luckily, I and four of my classmates together with our teachers were given a chance to participate and interact with the awesome TED community.

    October 10, 2016 - The long expected and welcomed guests from Germany finally arrived. In composition of five girls, two Czech and three German, and two Czech boys we spent several days like that.

  • ​Sexta in France a.k.a. Journey into the unknown

    June 8, 2016 - Long days of planning, discussing, transferring money around accounts and arguments about which days we will spend where, ended up in an amazing trip for us, the awesome French students - Mikuláš, Mája, Sára and Vláďa. We traveled solo for four days to Paris, so we could get to know the culture of this magnificent capital city before we made our way to Brittany, near the sea.

    May 30, 2016 - While Oktava students were busy passing their final exams, other students were also occupied in their Science lessons. Tercie students studied senses, especially eye reflexes, touch and taste receptors.

    May 10, 2016 - After a shaky flight, two hours of sleep and duty-free madness the Spanish speakers of Sexta, joined by two honourable guests from Kvinta and Septima, landed in Madrid to begin their visit which was a part of an exchange with IES Carlos III. de Toledo.

    May 3, 2016 - On the magical day of April 18th, our Kvinta class had a really remarkable session. During our English class, we assembled in the school café to recite poetry. I was really hesitant at first, but it turned out to be an unforgettable experience.

  • ​Prima Poetry Mic

    May 3, 2016 - April is the national month of poetry in the USA, and that is why we had Prima Poetry Mic (PPM) in our class during English lessons. It lasted for two days (20th-21st April), but we had been preparing for it for about a month. The PPM took place in our school theatre, and I think it was fun and interesting because I would never have liked poetry so much, if the PPM hadn’t happened.
