Poslední dopis ze základní školy tohoto školního roku

Dear parents,

After a long but very enjoyable year in Open Gate, here is the last email of the school year. And a last mention to all the many different types of weather we experienced during the last ten months!

This week in Open Gate, class 5 played baseball against the teachers and despite the best efforts of the teachers, we were no match for the excellent display of hitting, pitching and catching put on by the fifth graders!

Jana also organised an afternoon of board (table) games for the students on Monday which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

On Tuesday afternoon, class 5 played class 4 in a game of football. I wasn’t here in the afternoon and class 5 were very quiet about the game on Wednesday. I found out today that class 4 won by five goals to one. Great job class 4! I am sure class 5 were probably a bit tired after their epic victory against the teachers in baseball!

On Wednesday, we had out final Morning Oasis Assembly of the year. We were very happy to welcome Jirka Luka back to join us for assembly. It was very enjoyable to relive the school year through a lovely photo presentation prepared by Maruska. And then it was time for the end of year reports. I am sure there were many happy parents as we all know how well all the students worked this year.

On Thursday we had OGTlon and it was a great morning, including a very pleasant cycle through the forest. Here are some words from Eric about the cycle.

After completing the running portion of the OGthlon around the notorious Open Gate Oval in the morning sun, the competitors took to the bicycles by storm. All 12 riders donned their helmets and mounted their steeds, bursting down the initial hill, through the front gate and into the Babice forest. They trounced over tree stumps and exposed tree roots, through mud puddles and up harrowing heights. A few of the fearless riders found themselves abruptly laying in the side brush when their balance got away from them. But not a worry, they were back on the bikes in no time, darting down the trail, attempting to be first in the line and first back to the school. After about 7km, the riders pulled back into the campus, raced up the hill, parked back at the oval, and began preparing for the swim. Many of the competitors looked to be thirsty for more activity. They would find that in the depths of the Open Gate pool!

And you can read more about OGTlon in the message from Petra below.

A čas letošního OGtlonu?

01:42:58!!!

So on behalf of everyone in the Primary School, I wish you all a very happy and enjoyable summer. Enjoy any trips away, summer camps or even just relaxing with a good book. We look forward to seeing you all in the new school year. For this year’s class 5, I know I have said it before, but it is worth saying again, thank you for being such a fantastic class and all the best when you go to high school!

And from Petra…

Kind regards!
