Admission Procedure for Year 1 of the Eight-Year Grammar School Programme for the 2026/2027 Academic Year

Open Gate Grammar School announces the admission criteria for entry into the first year (Year 1 – Prima) of the eight-year grammar school programme for the 2026/27 academic year.

Application period: 1–20 February 2026
School entrance exams: March/April 2026 – depending on the number of applicants
National entrance exam: 14 and 15 April 2026
Alternative national exam dates: 29 and 30 April 2026
File review period: May 2026
Results announcement: Mid-May 2026

We are a Czech eight-year grammar school. The entrance examination consists of two parts. 60% of the total score comes from the National Entrance Examorganised by CERMAT, and 40% from the School Entrance Exam, which includes both a written and an oral part.

  • results of state Czech language test – 30 %
  • results of state mathematics test – 30 %
  • results of spoken interview – 40 %

The state exams are prepared by the Cermat agency. You can get an idea of what to expect from these requirements from the practice tests published on the agency’s website

An application form can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. You can find it under the heading Print a Secondary Education Application Form. Please fill in the form and send it to Open Gate, for the attention of Jana Hojerová by 20th February 2026. Jana will also be happy to answer any other questions you may have regarding the school’s admissions procedure.
