Acceptance Procedure
We are an eight-year grammar school. Entrance exams are taken by fifth-year students. Students who have completed lower primary school therefore enter the first year. Students in higher years can also transfer to the school, either from another secondary school or from an upper primary school but only if a place in a class becomes available.
Admissions Policy for the Grammar School
The admissions procedure consists of three parts, each with a different weight:
- results of state Czech language test 30%
- results of state mathematics test 30%
- results of spoken interview 40%
The state exams are prepared by the Cermat agency. You can get an idea of what to expect from these sections from the practice tests published on the agency’s website.
An application form can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. You can find it under the heading ‘Print a Secondary Education Application Form’. Please fill in the form and send it to Open Gate, for the attention of Jana Schramlová by 1 March 2023.
Jana Schramlová will be happy to answer any other questions you may have regarding the school’s admissions procedure.
We also offer grammar school students a generous scholarship programme from The Kellner Family Foundation. It offers a social scholarship which has been granted to 371 grammar school students since the school was founded. You can find an application form and further information at the following link www.kellnerfoundation.cz/opengate.
