News from Open Gate

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Graduates, and Friends of Open Gate.

The third week of January is coming to an end and winter is still nowhere to be seen. Although we had a few frosts in the mornings, the snow is only in our memories so far. Fans of winter are sad, others, especially drivers, are certainly satisfied.

Today, the letter is a bit shorter as a forerunner of the next, more comprehensive one, reporting on educational outcomes in the first half of the year.

On Monday a modified assembly prepared by the department of modern languages was repeated for our older students, otherwise the whole week was in the spirit of closing the classification. But there was time for other activities as well.

Kvarta students went ice skating in Říčany and on Thursday they spent the whole day in Prague, the program was created by colleagues from the English and Czech depatments. Oktáva students, who continued with the TOK presentations, manage to go have a look to Švandovo Divadlo theater and also had a workshop in our consulting center.

Yesterday there was an Open House Day in OG, everything went according to plan, thank you all for your visit. However, if someone of your loved ones or friends is interested and couldn’t attend, let them arrange an individual visit by phone. We are flexible and open.

It was a difficult week, in general, January is probably the most stressful for both students and teachers. But it is almost over. Next week on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, the second year of the favorite all-day NO TABOO Conference is held in OG under the guidance of the Advisory Center. As the name of the conference suggests, the content of the lectures, seminars and workshops will be topics that are not spoken of in society very much or only with shyness. Students, teachers and educators will introduce 21 interesting guests across their professions and lives. The conference is a part of our extended prevention program and addresses topics that are included in the school curriculum. You can learn more here.

On Thursday, semi-annual reports will be given to the students and on Friday we will enjoy a one day holiday. Also on Thursday, you'll receive a traditional, comprehensive report of the results and statistics. So you can look forward to that.

In the meantime, have a good time and enjoy the spring weekend.

Until next time,
