První páteční dopis ze základní školy
Vážení rodiče a milé děti,
dva měsíce netrpělivého čekání a příprav jsou za námi, školní rok 2019/2020 konečně odstartoval. Slunce zahalily mraky, spustil se déšť, ale ani tyhle nepříznivé okolnosti nám nezabránili užít si první společný den. Jedním z nejkrásnějších momentů byl zpěv školní hymny, kterým páťáci přivítali nové prvňáky a jejich rodiče. V úterý jsme pak při společné oáze vstoupili do celoročního tématu „Daruj kousek sebe“. Myšlenky na to, co vše můžeme darovat, a také přijímat, se budou prolínat nejen dalšími oázami, ale také různými akcemi, které budou spolu učitelé a děti připravovat k potěše své, svého okolí i lidí pro nás dnes ještě neznámých. V závěru tohoto týdne a v začátku týdne příštího prožila či prožije každá třída začátek dne v podobě pohádky o… No, nechte si vyprávět.
I hope you are all well. It has been a satisfying and sunny first week of the new school year in the Primary School! Classes 2 to 5 have all settled back in well and are relishing another great year in Open Gate. Class 1 I am sure are finding the experience a bit overwhelming but they all seem happy and are enjoying their first week in the school.
Some news from Luke…
In class 4 this week, we started one of our The World Around Us themes, History of the World. We learnt about the first moon landing in July 1969 and discussed why it happened, the space race, and what it means for us today, going to Mars. You will be pleased to know that most of the class 4 students don’t want to move to Mars and are quite happy down here on Earth!
In class 5 this week, we took our first look at the PET. The class enjoyed it and while it will be hard work, it will be very beneficial to their English. We also introduced the idea of a class president and it is something we will discuss before the class go to the polls and vote later in the month.
Some news from Eric…
Class 1 had their first official English lessons on Thursday morning. The students learned a new song in Morning Oasis called "Soft Kitty". They were introduced to their Incredible English Starter book where they worked on numbers and some basic English words. They also learned about their "How High Can You Fly" bulletin board where each week the students try to "fly" to the top by doing good deeds, behaving properly, participating in lessons and remembering the material. They all seemed motivated to have their hot air balloon in the clouds by Friday. It's set to be a great year in Class 1.
Class 5 started their World Around Us segment with Mr. E on Thursday. They began to look at, read and discuss and article about an 8-month luxury cruise around the world. Get out your pocketbooks, Mom and Dad, because a new item just popped up on their bucket lists! We'll continue working with this article next week, and more exciting topics into the coming months.
Class 3 did mostly introductory lessons in English class this week, getting to know their new teacher, as well as sharing some information about themselves. They also created some great jungle themed name cards for their desks. Next week, they will start to really dive into the course content with Incredible English and the World Around Us. They all seem excited to be moving along in the school and their English education!

We have started working on some exciting art projects in classes 2, 3 and 4. All of them are based on the topic that each class is focusing on this year. Class 2 have started preparing to make some beautiful Greek vases. Class 3 have been learning about Henri Rousseau’s paintings and making their own jungle scenes. Class 4 have been thinking about what kind of superhero each of them would like to be, so that they can make self-portraits as their superhero selves.
Milí rodiče,
opět se blíží akce FOOD FESTIVAL, která se stala na naší škole tradicí. Tento rok to bude už pátý ročník a já pevně věřím, že se setkáme v přátelském duchu a přivítáme tak společně školní rok 2019/2020.
I na tento rok přislíbili účast zajímavé firmy, které budou prezentovat své produkty.
Na tomto jubilejním ročníku se můžete také těšit na spoustu novinek:
- zábavu pro děti a jejich sourozence např. výtvarné a sportovní stanoviště
- oficiální moderátorku Food Festivalu
- kapelu Lake Malawi - finalisty Eurovision song contest
Pokud byste se chtěli Food Festivalu zúčastnit nejen jako návštěvníci, ale napadlo by vás, o co by mohly mít děti zájem, budete opět vítání. My vám tímto děkujeme i za ty ročníky předešlé. Koktejly, upečené dobroty, oříšky, mošty apod. to vše mělo vždy velký úspěch.

Příští týden:
V pondělí 9.9. se konají třídní schůzky pro 2. až 5. třídu. Začínají setkáním s vedením školy v 17h v divadle, v 17:30 pokračují s třídními učiteli v kmennové třídě. Tento den je družina prodloužena do 18:30.
Těšíme se na setkání s Vámi a přejeme příjemný víkend!
