Páteční pozdrav ze ZŠ
Dear Parents,
I hope you all had a good week. I am sure you all enjoyed the first snow of the year. There’s nothing better than everything becoming more slippery and wetter while trying to get around! I know I said I would try talk less about the weather but being from Ireland, the first snowfall was something we could look forward to once every five or six years when I was growing up!
Končí další nejrůznějšími událostmi nabitý týden. Při pobytu mimo budovu školy jsme si užili první sníh i krásné slunečné dny. Školní družina podpořila podzimní výzdobu výrobou pestrobarevných draků.
Hned v pondělí vyrazili čtvrťáci do Domova pro seniory Mukařov. Společně tvořili perníčky a povídali si o 17. listopadu 1989. Zpětná vazba z Mukařova zní: „Moc Vám děkujeme za Vaši návštěvu, všichni byli nadšeni.“ Stejnou třídu čeká v závěru týdne také hostitelská role. Děti přivítají v naší škole návštěvu z Dětského domova Potštejn. Program je připraven od pátečního do sobotního odpoledne.
S některými z vás jsme se viděli ve čtvrtek v průběhu dne otevřených dveří. Dopoledne ve výuce či po skončení vyučování v rámci prezentace Open Gate, specifik základní školy i gymnázia. Druhý den otevřených dveří je plánován na 23. ledna 2020.
S mnoha rodiči se uvidíme v pondělí 18. listopadu 2019, kdy první a čtvrtou třídu čekají společné třídní schůzky s různými organizačními informacemi. Obě setkání začínají v 17 hodin ve třídách. Budou vedeny tak, aby nemusel být prodloužen provoz družiny, která končí v 17:30.
Pondělí 18. listopadu začne pro všechny společným shromážděním v divadle školy. Věnovat se budeme tématu třiceti let od sametové revoluce v roce 1989. Toto téma se pak bude prolínat i dalšími aktivitami v průběhu celého dne.
This week on Monday, we will commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in Morning Oasis Assembly on Monday. Some of the primary school staff will share with the students, their reflections on that time and their time in Czechoslovakia during communism.
I was about the same age as the class 5 students at that time and the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent fall of communist governments across Central and Eastern Europe was one of the first major news stories which I remember in my life.
I was always obsessed with maps and geography as a kid and I remember at that time being very interested in one country on the map, Czechoslovakia. My interest lay in the name as it was such a long name with an unlikely combination of letters. I remember telling my father, before 1989, that I would like to visit Czechoslovakia and I remember him telling me that it was very unlikely due to it being behind the Iron Curtain. At the time as he explained the nature of the Iron Curtain and communism, I thought it very unfortunate that I wouldn’t be able to visit.
Of course time moves on and things change and while Czechoslovakia was dissolved in 1993, it made way for another great nation, the Czech Republic. And of course Slovakia, another country I am very fond of. So years later as we commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of such an important event, I am very proud to call the Czech Republic my home for the last nine years. It is a privilege to live here and to commemorate an event which so shaped the future of this wonderful country.
This week, class 5 will have a class trip on Friday to visit the Prague Town Council and meet the mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, which we are all looking forward to. In class 5, we recently held the first round of elections for class president. This week, we will hold the second round of voting and I hope in next Friday’s email to be able to announce who will be the president of class 5 this year.
I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and an opportunity to reflect upon the events of November 1989. It looks like the temperatures will rise a little so next week should be snow free!
